We catch up with Raman Sethi (Bird), consultant of Peak Recruitment. Bird is a specialist in Food and Beverage and Crop Science Industries in our team. Let's see how him path in Food and Agriculture has been paved, and find out a bit more about him life outside of work.

What was your first job?

My first job was working part-time at a clinic in a customer service role while I was in my second year of university. It was just after the COVID-19 lockdown, and the clinic was looking for extra support, so I decided to join. I worked there for nearly two years and learned a lot during that time. My manager was very kind and patient, she taught me not only about service and teamwork but also how to handle different types of people and situations. That experience helped me build strong communication and coordination skills, which continue to support me today.

Tell us a bit about your career to date and how you got into recruitment.

After completing my Bachelor’s degree in International Business at Mahidol University International College, I gained valuable skills and knowledge that align well with the recruitment industry. I started my career in customer service, where I discovered my passion for connecting and communicating with people. Later, I decided to move into recruitment, where I enjoy helping others find the right opportunities and supporting businesses to grow through strong talent. I believe Peak Recruitment is the right place and steppingstone for me to achieve my goals while learning and contributing my best to the team.

If you had to pick a job in the food or agriculture industry, what would it be? And why?

Before joining Peak, my first thought would definitely be something related to food, as my family runs a restaurant business in Thailand. However, after working here, I’ve become increasingly interested in the agriculture and agribusiness sectors, especially learning how this industry supports food production and sustainability. It’s exciting to see how Peak’s clients contribute to this field, and it has inspired me to want to understand and be part of it more deeply.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love playing and watching sports with friends, especially football. I’m a huge fan and rarely miss a match! It’s something that helps me relax, stay active, and connect with people who share the same passion.

Tell us something not many people know about you?

Something not many people know about me is that I’m Sikh. Since there are not many Sikhs in Thailand, people often mistake my background for another religion or nationality — but I always take it as a chance to share and educate others about my culture. Fun fact: everything’s great when there’s good food and good company!

Are you a beer or wine person?

Definitely a beer person, cheers!

What is your favorite food?

I enjoy all cuisines, but if I had to choose, it would definitely be Thai food. I especially love Crisp Catfish Flake Salad, the spice is just amazing!

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?

I’ve recently realized I have a lazy habit of staying up late and snacking at night. I also haven’t been exercising much, so I’m trying to get back on track by easing myself into a more active routine. I believe that starting small and staying consistent is the first step toward achieving great results.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

I wish I could have all the superpowers, but if I had to pick one that would really change me, it would be the ability to read people’s minds. It would clear my doubts and help me get straight to the point.

What country, apart from your home country, would you like to live in?

Definitely Liverpool, England. A weekly visit to Anfield would be a dream come true! My whole family are Liverpool fans (true Scousers at heart), and sharing that passion together would make living there a dream for all of us.

What is the coolest role you've placed

Since I only started a few months ago, the coolest role I’ve placed so far has been Senior Agronomy in the Philippines for a fertiliser company.

What is your all time favourite movie?

I enjoy many movies, but if I had to choose one, it would definitely be Now You See Me. I love the thrill and the magic behind it.

What are some of your goals (work or personal) for 2025?

For work, my goal is to perform at my best and make a strong contribution to the team. On a personal level, I’d like to spend more time with my friends and family, while also opening myself up to new experiences and the world.

Your life mantra is / Your philosophy on life is / The words you live by are…

‘Play with passion, work with purpose, and stay grounded through it all’

Name three things right now you are grateful for.

Family, openness, and friends.

One job I’m recruiting for RIGHT NOW is:
