The Senior Flavorist will take a dual focus on both a Technical Creation role within the sweet category and a leadership/mentoring role for our clients’ Flavor Creation and Sensory Division in Asia.
The role will be expected to deliver business growth in Asia through developing, matching, selecting and demonstrating the right natural, nature identical and artificial flavours to meet the requirements of their customers and their end consumers in the region.
Responsibilities:
Act as mentor for junior staff and train the technical on flavor chemistry to transfer knowledge
Works cross-functionally (marketing, sales, innovation) to ensure excellence in category/project planning
Answering project briefs and ensuring response is accurate, appropriately presented and timely with the technical and commercial teams.
Working in liaison with client personnel at our client to help resolve client technical challenges from initial brief through to full production.
Advising sales/customer service team when opportunities arise to develop/enhance existing flavors for specified clients.
Developing market winning flavors to delight customers in Asia.
Assess analytical techniques that may be beneficial to broadening the technical capabilities of our client.
Utilise GC-MS analysis of competitors flavorings to assist the Technical department ensuring self is up to date with raw materials, food processing and competitive flavor developments to maintain and develop a sound knowledge of raw materials and suppliers based on thorough evaluation.
Ensure our client can offer existing and agreed potential clients competitive flavor submissions (performance, cost).
Developing “new” flavors through creation, matching, modification, delivery systems/responding to food processing opportunities
Ensuring screening is sufficiently sensitive to enable the best fit flavor for each brief and that no flavor is submitted to client without approval of self
Qualifications:
10+ years experience as a flavourist, ideally focusing on sweet or beverage.
Ability to build effective strategic working relationships - able to influence across departments.
Flavour chemistry knowledge.
Ability to read GC/MS analysis would be advantageous, not essential.
Insights into trends/challenges facing the industry.
Able to compound and create sweet liquid flavours.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Good team player.

Able to demonstrate analytical thinking.
