The Sourcing Manager will assist in identifying and initiating new organic raw material sourcing projects in Asia for the trade business, research the opportunity and possibilities resulting in a business plan and after approval of the business plan coordinate the work out/roll out of the project plan. The Sourcing Manager will also be responsible for managing the lifecycle of an assigned portfolio of product.
The ideal candidate will come with extensive experience sourcing food ingredients and materials across Asia, with a curious, entrepreneurial mindset and a demonstrated track record developing supplier relationships from the ground up.
The role will suit a mature, experienced sourcing professional, who is comfortable working independently from a home-based role, and able to travel extensively throughout the region. Although Thailand and Vietnam have been identified as target employment locations, the role could be based at any location within South East Asia.
Responsibilities:
Lead initial research and creation of vendor profiles to aid in SEA supplier selection. Create, issue and manage RFPs and evaluate proposals.
Act as a contact for both Southeast Asia and USA based commercial trading desks as well as local partners and potential suppliers.
Closely collaborate internally with the Supply Chain Team, Operations and the QA Department and externally with suppliers, farmers, government and certification agencies, exporters, etc.
Oversee supplier onboarding and manage relationship through lifecycle of the program, managing performance, price negotiations and navigating supply and quality issues.
Create and oversee execution of business, project and budget plans for sourcing projects.
Lead the ongoing development of existing sourcing projects.
Provide technical support to existing and new organic projects in meeting organic standards.
Setup and coordinate the technical assistance programs per project with focus on efficient, effective organic solutions.
Support on-side audits to identify and protect against quality, operational, structural, security and ethical risks with suppliers.
Stay informed of area market shifts, geopolitical issues, product seasonality, freight constraints and more to inform the team and shift focus as needed.
Support sales and marketing teams through trade show participation and customer visits.
Qualifications:
Degree qualified with 8+ years professional sourcing experience of food ingredients / materials within South East Asia.
Already established in South East Asia, preferably Vietnam or Thailand, with proper work authorization is preferred. Visa sponsorship may be considered.
Knowledge of sourcing of raw food materials, QA systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards.
Experience with organic production and the ability to assess the quality of organic projects.
Excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with vendors, customers, and internal departments.
Fluency in English (Verbal and written).
A self-directed capability of multi-tasking, problem-solving, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
The ability to interface directly with international, cross-functional teams.
The ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
Skills required to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits.
