Peak Recruitment are partnering with a leading global producer of food additives to the meat processing industry, who are looking to hire a Control Engineer to work on-site at our clients production facility close to Glasgow, and who is able to code PLC’s and design & modify various control programs.
The Control Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing new Electrical and automation systems for use in the our clients production process, with the ability to solve existing control and automation issues and provide innovative solution and designs. You will be expected to provide support to the production process by assessing and troubleshooting systems already installed, provide technical and engineering support and advice to other Departments, covering the following key responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
Develop and modify PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs to ensure that the effectiveness of new and installed automation is to the highest level. Modification of these programmes as required to include alternative control algorithms and tasks.
Define, plan, and organise all aspects of a project including financial evaluation, control of budgets and timescales to meet the stated objectives of that project.
Be able to generate prototype designs and solutions, conduct testing, quantify and justify the preferred design.
Perform commissioning and testing of new plant or automation systems, assessing their suitability for their stated purpose, and monitoring the performance once the system is live.
Qualifications:
Degree qualified in Control or Electrical Engineering, with demonstrable and practical experience.
Practical experience of programming PLC and HMI equipment.
Drafting of wiring diagrams and layouts using AutoCAD would be an advantage.
A practical understanding of field bus technologies, how and where they are used. This should include Profinet or Profibus DP in particular.
A working knowledge and practical experience in the electrical design field would be an advantage.
